Thyrotropin (TSH), also known as thyroid-stimulating hormone, stimulates the production of T3 and T4. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland, a small gland located at the base of the brain. TSH binds to receptors on the surface of thyroid cells, causing them to increase their production of T3 and T4.
