Affective Flattening: Understanding Emotional Expression & Autism
Affective flattening is a condition characterized by a reduced range of emotional expression, a lack of emotional warmth or empathy, and an overall diminished responsiveness to emotional stimuli. Individuals with affective flattening often appear apathetic, withdrawn, and indifferent towards others. They may have difficulty expressing their emotions verbally and nonverbally, and they may show a decreased interest in social interactions. Affective flattening is commonly seen in individuals with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, as well as in certain neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease and dementia.ADD - Related Articles
