Semen Production and Testicle Count: What You Need to Know
A male who has only one testicle is referred as a monorchid. Monorchids can produce the following:
- Normal Amount of Semen: A single healthy testicle can usually produce a normal amount of semen. This is sufficient for reproduction in most cases.
- Less Semen: In some cases, a man with one testicle may produce a lower amount of semen. However, this is not always the case and can vary individually.
Factors such as overall health, genetics, and lifestyle can also influence semen volume. Other factors which can affect the volume of semen include:
- Age: Semen volume tends to decrease with age.
- Health Conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as hormonal imbalances or infections, can affect semen volume.
- Medications: Some medications can have side effects that may reduce semen volume.
It's worth noting that semen volume does not directly correlate with fertility.
