Gastropathy: Understanding Abnormal Stomach Conditions & Symptoms
The medical term for an abnormal condition of the stomach is gastropathy. Gastropathy refers to a general term used to describe a wide range of diseases and conditions that affect the stomach lining (mucosa), causing inflammation, erosion, or other structural abnormalities. It can manifest with various symptoms such as abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, or changes in bowel habits. Gastropathy can have different causes, including infections, autoimmune disorders, drug side effects, alcohol abuse, and certain chronic medical conditions. The diagnosis of gastropathy usually involves a combination of patient history, physical examination, laboratory tests, and endoscopic procedures (such as upper endoscopy with biopsy). Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include medications, lifestyle modifications, or endoscopic therapies.Gastric Cancer - Related Articles
