Skin Cancer Stage 1: Understanding Symptoms & Early Signs
Itching is not typically a stage 1 sign of skin cancer.
Skin cancer is a common type of cancer that can develop in any area of the skin. It is caused by the growth of abnormal cells in the skin. There are many different types of skin cancer, but the most common types are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma.
The most common early signs of skin cancer include:
- A change in the size, shape, or color of a mole
- A new mole that appears suddenly
- A sore that does not heal
- A scaly or rough patch of skin
- Bleeding or crusting
Itching is not a typical symptom of stage 1 skin cancer. However, it is important to see a doctor if you have any concerns about changes in your skin.
