Ovarian Rupture (Ovariorrhexis): Symptoms, Causes & Treatment
Ovarian rupture, or ovariorrhexis, occurs when there is a tear or rupture in one of the ovaries. It is a rare complication that can occur during pregnancy, childbirth, or certain medical procedures involving the ovaries. There may not always be symptoms associated with ovarian rupture. If symptoms do occur, they may include:
- Sudden and severe abdominal or pelvic pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fever
- Low blood pressure
- Rapid heart rate
- Dizziness or fainting
- Weakness
- Pain during intercourse or urination
