Chronic Hepatitis: Understanding Slow Liver Inflammation
The medical term meaning slowly progressive inflammation of liver is chronic hepatitis. Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver, and can be either acute or chronic. Acute hepatitis is short-lived, lasting for less than 6 months, and is usually caused by a virus. Chronic hepatitis, on the other hand, lasts for more than 6 months, and can be caused by a variety of factors, including viruses, alcohol abuse, and autoimmune disorders.
