Lactulose and Liver Health: Understanding the Connection
Lactulose does not directly affect the liver. However, it is used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, a condition in which the liver is unable to remove toxins from the blood, leading to a buildup of ammonia and other harmful substances in the brain. Lactulose works by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the colon, which break down ammonia into compounds that can be excreted from the body.Liver Cancer - Related Articles
