Sebaceous Cysts: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment
Sebaceous cysts, also known as epidermal cysts, are usually painless, slow-growing, round or oval lumps/bumps that occur just below the skin surface. Although they can usually be found anywhere on your body, they commonly occur on the face, neck, back, and genitals.
In most cases, sebaceous cysts do not cause any symptoms. However, if the cyst becomes infected, it may cause pain, swelling, redness, and tenderness. In some cases, the cyst may rupture and drain a foul-smelling, cheesy material.
