Colonoscopy Aftercare: What to Expect After the Procedure
After effects of colonoscopy in adults:
* Discomfort: You may experience some discomfort or cramping in your abdomen for a few days after the procedure. This is normal and should gradually go away.
* Bleeding: You may also notice some slight bleeding from your rectum for a day or two after the procedure. This is also normal and should stop on its own.
* Gas: You may also experience some gas and bloating after the procedure. This is normal and should gradually go away.
* Fatigue: You may feel tired after the procedure. This is normal and should go away within a day or two.
* Nausea: You may also experience some nausea after the procedure. This is normal and should go away within a day or two.
If you experience any of the following after effects, be sure to contact your doctor:
* Severe pain or discomfort in your abdomen
* Heavy bleeding from your rectum
* Fever
* Chills
* Nausea or vomiting that doesn't go away
* Diarrhea that doesn't go away
