Ferret Alcohol Toxicity: Risks, Symptoms & Emergency Care
A ferret's body metabolizes alcohol differently than a human's body. When a ferret drinks alcohol, it cannot break down the ethanol the same way humans can. This causes a buildup of acetaldehyde in the ferret's system, which can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, and even coma. In severe cases, drinking alcohol can be fatal for a ferret.
Ferrets should never be given alcohol, even small amounts. If you think your ferret has consumed alcohol, contact a veterinarian immediately.
