Painted Turtle & Musk Turtle Mating: Can They Breed?

Painted turtles and musks are both freshwater turtles, but they are from different families and cannot interbreed. Painted turtles are in the family Emydidae, while musk turtles are in the family Sternotheridae. These families are distantly related, and their reproductive systems are not compatible.
