Black Death in London: Death Toll & Impact - A Historical Overview

The Black Death, not the Black Plague, was the deadliest pandemic in human history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75-200 million people in Eurasia and peaking in Europe in the years 1347-51. In England, it is estimated that the Black Death killed up to half of the population, approximately 2 million people. The plague hit London particularly hard, killing an estimated 100,000 people - about a third of the city's population - in just 18 months.
