Preventing Bed Bug Reproduction: A Comprehensive Guide
Bedbug infestations can get out of hand extremely fast. It is unlikely that a person could stop bedbugs from reproducing completely, but the process can be slowed down significantly. For bedbugs to reproduce they have to feed. Bedbugs tend to feed on people while they sleep, so making everyone in the household less accessible to bedbugs throughout the night will slow down their reproduction.Things You'll Need
- 4 glass jars per bed in the home
- Water
- Neem oil
- Diatomaceous earth
- Bed bug mattress cover
Instructions
Fill each glass jar with a half an inch of water.
Set the feet of the bed frame into the jar. Bedbugs can't climb up glass and get into your bed. If they find a way up the jar, they will land in the water and drown. If possible, place jars under the feet of couches as well.
Spray diatomaceous earth on the box spring and the bed frame. The diatomaceous earth should be vacuumed and reapplied every three to five days. The vacuum bag should be tied up and removed from the home as soon as the vacuuming is complete.
Wrap the mattress with the bedbug mattress cover so that any bed bugs in the mattress can't get out to feed.
Before going to sleep each member of the household should rub small amounts of neem oil on their bodies. The oil is an effective bedbug repellent.
