Kissing Bug Control: Prevention & Home Treatment
Kissing bugs prey on us while we sleep, sucking the blood from our exposed skin, mostly in the face and lip area. The kissing bug is responsible for the deaths of approximately 50,000 people every year in Latin America due to the Chagas disease. There have been no cases of Chagas disease in the U.S., but the potential is definitely there. The best remedy is to eradicate these types of bugs from your home.
Instructions
Inspect your home for gaps or openings where the kissing bug could gain entry. Check around windows and doors. See if there are any holes in the outside walls of your home. Also check for broken screens.
Place caulking material in any gaps or holes you find. Caulk will seal the holes and make it virtually impossible for the kissing bug to enter your home.
Call a professional exterminator to spray your home with pesticide. This will kill any bugs that currently reside in your home.
