Pulmonary Artery: Function & Role in Blood Circulation

The pulmonary artery is the artery that carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs. The pulmonary arteries branch off from the right ventricle of the heart and carry blood to the lungs, where it picks up oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. The oxygenated blood then returns to the heart via the pulmonary veins.
