How to Store Kombucha Tea Culture
Kombucha cultures are fairly hardy, but to keep them at their healthiest, they must be stored properly. Keep a backup culture in case something happens to the original, and you may want to stockpile a few to give away to give to your friends. Refrigerate for best results.Things You'll Need
- Kombucha culture Starter tea Clean container Distilled white vinegar
Instructions
Wash your container and rinse it with white vinegar to disinfect. Your container should be slightly larger than your culture, and able to seal. Plastic food containers work well.
Wash your hands. Remove your culture from your last batch of kombucha tea and place it into your container. Fill the container with tea from your last batch and seal.
Label the culture with the date you put it into storage. Store at room temperature for 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 months.
