The Origin of the Color Magenta: From Battle to Hue
Magenta was named after the Battle of Magenta, which took place in 1859 between the French and Austrian forces in the Franco-Austrian War. The battle was fought near the town of Magenta, Lombardy, Italy, which gave the color its name. The color was first known as "fuchsine" when it was discovered in 1856 by the French chemist Charles-Auguste de la Tour, but it was renamed "magenta" after the battle in 1859.Color Therapies - Related Articles
