Aponeurosis:
• A flat tendon; a sheet or expansion of tough, fibrous connective tissue forming the termination of a muscle
• It blends in with or fuses to periosteum or the deep fascia of a part
• Covers a muscle or group of muscles, serving for their origin or insertion or to hold neighboring muscles loosely apart
• Aponeuroses often extend beyond attachment into broad expansions that overlie other soft tissues
