DIY Hot Tiger Balm Recipe: Soothe Pain Naturally
Tiger Balm is a topical solution that contains wax and essential oils. It is rubbed on the skin to relieve muscular pain, soothe itchiness, and eliminate headaches and an upset stomach. It's also helpful for reducing symptoms of the common cold and congestion when applied to the throat and chest area. You can make your own tiger balm by purchasing a few inexpensive items that can be found at your local health food or aromatherapy stores.Things You'll Need
- 10 drops essential oil of eucalyptus
- 10 drops essential oil of peppermint
- 5 drops essential oil of clove
- 60 ml extra-virgin olive oil
- 15 g beeswax
- Double broiler
- Metal spoon
- Small glass or metal container
Instructions
Set your stove on low heat. Combine extra-virgin olive oil and beeswax in a double boiler and stir with a metal spoon until the beeswax is melted. Do not use a wooden spoon, as it can absorb the oils.
Remove the mixture from heat and thoroughly mix in the essential oils.
Pour the tiger balm mixture into a small metal or glass container. Let it cool before putting on a lid.
