In most cases, ringworm can be treated with over-the-counter antifungal creams, sprays, or powders, like clotrimazole, but more severe cases or ringworm of the scalp may require prescription antifungal medication taken by mouth. If your ringworm doesn’t improve after 2 weeks of using an over-the-counter antifungal medicine or if you have ringworm of the scalp or nails see your doctor.
