How to Stay Alert With Self-Acupressure
Acupressure is the ancient practice of manipulating a person's health, mood or well-being using specific points on the body. These acupressure points correspond to ailments or conditions a person experiences. There are even acupressure points related to alertness. Using these points, you can stay alert with self-acupressure.
Instructions
Learn proper acupressure techniques. When doing self-acupressure, you must be able to alternate between a tapping motion, rubbing and constant pressure.
Apply pressure to the top of the head. This includes most of the scalp area. Make sure to spread the pressure around the entire top of the head. Tapping on the top of the head is less effective than constant pressure.
Tap the back of the neck, toward the top, on both sides. You can also apply constant pressure to these pressure points.
Rub the muscle on your hand between your forefinger and thumb for 3 to 5 minutes. Your hand will ache a little bit, but you will feel a burst of energy afterwards.
Push on the center bottom of your feet. The pressure point is located just below the ball of the foot. Alternate between constant pressure and tapping on these pressure points.
Use the pressure point just below the kneecap. A firm and rhythmic tapping is most appropriate for this particular pressure point.
