DIY Eucalyptus Essential Oil: A Simple Guide
Not everyone likes the fragrance of the eucalyptus. It has an extremely powerful scent, and its oil is used by herbalists and aroma massage therapists. Many workers prepare their own oil to reduce cost and to exercise some control over the scent and amount made.-
Mix
-
Release the oils in the eucalyptus leaves by gently squeezing them between your fingers. Place the leaves and oil in a crock pot and mix them. Use 1 cup of oil for every 1/4 ounce of leaves.
Cook
-
Cook the concoction in the crock pot on its lowest setting for at least six hours. Alternatively, you can place the oil and leaves in a large jar and leave it in direct sunlight for two weeks. At this point, use a cloth to strain the mixture and separate the leaves from your homemade eucalyptus oil.
Pour
-
Pour the oil into another jar. Date and label the oil, then place in a dry area. The eucalyptus oil can be stored for up to six months before becoming unusable.
