Skin Graft Bandage Care: A Step-by-Step Guide
Skin grafts are a removal of the top layer of skin for use in other medical procedures. The dressings, or bandages, must be changed and the site cleaned, normally several times a day. The doctor will provide a prescription for a dressing or the dressing itself, usually something like Xeroform. In addition, an ace bandage, netting, or gauze will be needed to cover the dressing.Things You'll Need
- Xeroform
- Ace bandage with clips
Instructions
Changing the Bandage
Remove the old dressings carefully so as not to open the graft.
Peel open the xeroform and apply to skin graft.
Wrap ace bandage around the xeroform to hold in place.
