How to Look Up an HCPCS
The Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System, or HCPCS, is a coding system used to describe diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures provided to Medicaid and Medicare patients and performed by doctors and other healthcare practitioners. Commonly pronounced "hicks-picks," HCPCS are codes based on the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) of the American Medical Association. Medical practitioners should submit accurate HCPCS codes on a medical claim form when billing for Medicare and Medicaid patients.Things You'll Need

Visit a HCPCS code lookup website such as hipaaspace.com and scroll to the bottom of the page. Locate the "Lookup Services" section in the second column and click "HCPCS Code Lookup."
Enter the HCPCS code in the box provided in the middle of the page.
Click "Search" to the right of the box in which you put the HCPCS code.
Review the code details. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to look up additional HCPCS codes.
