What valve is at the junction of large and small intestines?
The valve that separates the large and small intestines is called the ileocecal valve. It ensures that the digested, semi-liquid matter in the small intestine does not flow back uncontrollably into the large intestine. Instead, it allows it to proceed in one direction only, into the large intestine, for efficient absorption of nutrients and water as well as the formation of stool.Open Heart Surgery - Related Articles
