Heart Transplant Eligibility: Requirements and Criteria
To be eligible for a heart transplant you must:
- Have severe heart failure.
- Be unable to be treated by any other means.
- Be in good overall health.
- Be willing and able to follow the post-transplant care plan.
- Be free from any addiction to alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Be free from any active infection.
- Be able to afford the cost of the transplant and follow-up care.
