What conditions prevent a laser capsulotomy being performed?
Laser capsulotomy cannot be performed in the presence of the following conditions:
- Active intraocular infection.
- Corneal disease that may limit visualization of the posterior capsule (such as corneal edema, scarring, or ectasia).
- Significant posterior synechiae that may prevent access to the posterior capsule.
- Inability to dilate the pupil adequately.
- History of retinal detachment or any other retinal pathology that may be exacerbated by the procedure.
- Media opacity (e.g., vitreous hemorrhage or cataract) that prevents clear visualization of the posterior capsule.
- Uncontrolled glaucoma.
- Inadequate patient cooperation or inability to maintain fixation during the procedure.
