Installing Cox Eye Shields: A Guide for Professionals
Cox eye shields are stainless steel, non-glare shields designed to protect the cornea during laser eye surgery. Eye shields require proper sterilization. Professional physicians should insert the eye shields to ensure proper fitting since oversized shields can cause corneal abrasions.Things You'll Need
- Ophthalmic topical procaine drops
Instructions
Lower the bottom eyelid and administer the recommended dose of ophthalmic topical procaine drops.
Instruct the patient to look upward.
Separate the patient's upper and lower eyelids, and place the sterile eye shield over the eye so it covers the entire surface of the eye.
Release the eyelids so they fall over the eye shield.
Repeat the procedure for the other eye, as needed.
