What is myoscopy?
Myoscopy is the measurement of muscle function. It is used to assess muscle strength, power, endurance, and coordination. Myoscopy can be performed using a variety of methods, including:
* Manual muscle testing: This is a simple and inexpensive way to assess muscle strength. The therapist manually resists the patient's movement, and the patient's strength is graded on a scale of 0 to 5.
* Isokinetic dynamometry: This is a more precise way to assess muscle strength. The patient performs a movement against a machine that provides resistance. The machine records the patient's strength throughout the range of motion.
* Electromyography (EMG): This measures the electrical activity of muscles. It can be used to assess muscle activation patterns, muscle recruitment, and muscle fatigue.
Myoscopy can be used to diagnose muscle weakness, muscle imbalances, and muscle injuries. It can also be used to track progress during rehabilitation.
