Toe Surgery Recovery: What to Expect & How to Heal
Immediately After Toe Surgery- Bandage or cast to protect the toe
-Pain medication to control discomfort
-Elevation of the foot to reduce swelling
-Crutches or a walker to help with walking
Recovery
- Follow the surgeon's instructions for wound care and activity restrictions.
-Keep the wound dry and clean.
-Change the bandage as directed.
-Don't put weight on the toe until the surgeon says it is okay to do so.
-Take pain medication as prescribed.
-Elevate the foot and ice the toe to help reduce swelling.
-Physical therapy may be recommended to help restore range of motion and strength to the toe.
-Attend all follow-up appointments with the surgeon.
