Menopause After Hysterectomy: What You Need to Know
No, it is impossible to go through menopause after a person has had a full hysterectomy.
During a full hysterectomy, both the uterus and the ovaries are removed from the body. The ovaries produce the hormones estrogen and progesterone that regulate the menstrual cycle and fertility. Without ovaries, a person will no longer produce these hormones and can therefore not go through menopause, which is the natural process of the cessation of menstruation.
