Can you remove a fixed bridge?
A fixed bridge is a permanent dental restoration and cannot be removed by the patient. Only a dentist can remove a fixed bridge. The process of removing a fixed bridge typically involves the following steps:
1. The dentist will numb the area around the bridge with local anesthesia.
2. The dentist will use a special drill to remove the cement that is holding the bridge in place.
3. The dentist will then use a special tool to gently lift the bridge off of the teeth.
4. The dentist will clean and polish the teeth that were under the bridge.
5. The dentist may recommend that the patient wear a temporary bridge or partial denture while the teeth under the bridge heal.
6. The dentist may also recommend that the patient get a new fixed bridge or other type of dental restoration to replace the removed bridge.
