Locating the Femoral Vein: A Step-by-Step Guide
To locate the femoral vein:1. Lie down on your back with your legs extended and relaxed.
2. Feel along the inside of your thigh, slightly below the groin crease, for a pulse.
3. This is the femoral artery. The femoral vein is located just behind it.
4. You can feel the femoral vein by gently pressing in the area behind the artery.
NOTE: If you are having difficulty finding the femoral vein, you may need to have a doctor or nurse help you.
