Photofacial Treatment: Benefits, Preparation & Recovery
Photofacials are used to enhance the appearance of sun-damaged and older skin. They also help reduce the effects of acne scars and red lines associated with rosacea. These pulsating light treatments result in younger-looking skin. You can have a photofacial on all exposed parts of the upper body, including the face and neck.
Instructions
Ask your physician any questions you have about the photofacial procedure and recovery. Make your physician aware of any potential problems such as sensitive skin or skin that's prone to fever blisters. If you notice any outbreaks on your face the day of the procedure, reschedule your appointment for a day when the outbreak is healed.
Allow 30 to 45 minutes for the procedure and arrive at your appointment with clean skin. Remove all makeup and lotions from your face before your photofacial appointment. Men must shave the same day as the procedure.
Shield your eyes with a pair of goggles to protect them during your photofacial. After the treatment, apply a comforting gel to your whole face to help ease any pain. Place ice packs on the areas where you received the light treatment.
