Closed vs. Open Rhinoplasty: Understanding Nasal Surgery Techniques

1. Closed Rhinoplasty: With this technique, all incisions are made inside the nose and there is no visible scarring on the outside of the nose.

2. Open Rhinoplasty: In this technique, a small incision is made in the columella, the strip of the tissue separating the nostrils, allowing for better access to the nasal structures. This technique provides the surgeon with a wider view of the nasal anatomy but results in a slight scar that is usually not noticeable.
