The widest part of the spinal cord is called the cervical enlargement.
The cervical enlargement, also known as the cervical intumescence, is located in the region of the spinal cord that corresponds to the cervical vertebrae. This enlargement is associated with the origin of the nerves that control the upper limbs and is therefore larger in diameter compared to other segments of the spinal cord.
