Safe Handling of Dry Ice: A Comprehensive Guide
Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide, and it is commonly used during Halloween and other festive events to produce a foglike effect. Adding a piece of dry ice to punch will make the punch appear to be smoking, and adding dry ice to a small pond will make "fog" appear from the pond. You must handle dry ice with caution because it may cause injury if it touches bare skin.Things You'll Need
- Dry ice
- Thick leather gloves
- Tongs
Instructions
Pull on leather gloves. Make sure they are on firmly and effectively cover your skin.
Pick up the tongs and place the end around the piece of dry ice. Make sure your grip is secure before you pick up the ice.
Pick up the dry ice, move it to the desired location and gently place it down.
