Hydraulic Glue Press Safety: Essential Safety Guidelines & Best Practices
The safety rules that apply to hydraulic glue presses are largely the same rules that apply to all hydraulic presses. The chief source of danger comes from the weight applied by the hydraulic press.-
Training
-
Do not attempt to use a hydraulic press, or any tool, unless you have been properly trained in the safe use of that tool. It is also important to know where the emergency shutoff for the press is located.
Material
-
A hydraulic press can apply as much as 100 tons of pressure to the medium that is being affixed. It is important to check for any cracks or weakness' in the material being pressed and that the material is lined up properly so pressure is applied evenly.
Safety Gear
-
Loose clothing, jewelry or other items which could catch in machinery should be removed or secured prior to using a press. Because of the risk of flying material, safety goggles or a face shield should always be worn along with other protective gear such as hard hats where appropriate.
