How to Stay Cool in a Car Without Air Conditioning
No matter where you live, being without air conditioning in your car can bring on a sweat, especially during summertime. Check out these tips to help you cool off even when the air conditioning isn't blowing.
Instructions
Use a car sun shade to cover the front windshield when parked. Decreasing the internal temperature slightly will help when you first jump in. Also, park under a tree for shade.
Take a spray bottle that contains ice and water. Spray your face and arms and legs to keep cool during your drive time. Consider wetting a rag or towel to place around your neck also.
Time it right. If you're able to choose when to travel, leave earlier in the morning or later in the evening when the temperatures are cooler.
Roll those windows down. Get some air circulating in the car. Don't attempt to drive with them closed.
Take beverages with you. If you drink a lot of water, it will help keep you cool internally and prevent dehydration. Freeze bottled waters to take, and they'll remain cold as you drink. Drink 2 to 4 glasses of fluid every hour.
Consider purchasing some gadgets. Find portable fans or fans that mist water as they blow a breeze.
Dress appropriately. Less clothing and light colors are better. Wear a sleeveless shirt and shorts and take off your shoes. Fabrics such as linen will breathe better.
