How to Stop a Hangover From Occurring
You've arrived home from an evening of heavy drinking and just thinking about the next morning starts the first signs of a headache--and a hangover. The key to any good hangover remedy actually starts the night before. While you won't find these tips in any of the medical books, this is a good home remedy that has worked for this author for years.Things You'll Need
- Hamburger Advil
Instructions
Sit down and try to calculate how many drinks you've had that night. A drink is defined as a shot (solo or within a mixed drink) or a glass of beer or wine.
Drink a glass of water for each drink you had. This may take a while, and you don't necessarily want to gulp it all down. Just sip it consistently. If you can't drink it all, get as close as you can.
While drinking your water, eat a hamburger. The simple protein and carbs of the burger will help absorb the alcohol and offset a bit of the acidity of the alcohol. The grease will also help settle it down.
Take a long, hot shower or a bath. This will help keep your muscles relaxed and also get rid of any alcohol-related smell.
Take two Advil right before you go to bed. This will reduce your chances of developing a headache and soreness the next day.
Sleep for at least eight hours.
