Free Medical Assistance for the Homeless in Ohio: Resources & Support
According to the Ohio division of Mental Health Services for Homeless Persons Inc., the number of homeless adults the program served in 2009 increased 46 percent from the previous year. Additionally, the overall amount of homeless people the organization served in 2009 increased 14 percent. With infections and chronic illnesses such as diabetes and cancer, the average lifespan for a homeless adult is 62 years, according to the executive director of the Ohio Community Shelter Board. If you want to help a homeless person get health care, there are organizations around the state that provide free services.

Contact the Mount Carmel Hospital Community Outreach department to find a mobile outreach van. The hospital provides a range of free health services for homeless individuals living throughout the capital city of Columbus.
