DIY Hand Sanitizer: A Simple Guide to Homemade Germ Protection
You pick up germs from most surfaces that you touch. Communal surfaces, such as the handle of a shopping cart and doorknobs, often carry germs that can make you sick. It is important to sanitize your hands after touching shared surfaces and before you eat or put your hands near your face. Make your own hand sanitizer using common household supplies to combat sickening germs.Things You'll Need
- Essential oil
- Aloe vera gel
- Rubbing alcohol
- Funnel
- Soap bottle or other plastic container
Instructions
Pour eight to 10 drops of essential oil into a small mixing bowl. Any essential oil can be used, including lavender or eucalyptus. The oil's purpose is to add a pleasing scent and to kill germs.
Add 1/3 cup aloe vera gel to the bowl.
Pour 2/3 cup 99 percent rubbing alcohol into the bowl.
Mix all ingredients in the bowl with a spoon until well blended.
Place a funnel in the opening of an empty soap bottle or other plastic container, and pour the mixed hand sanitizer into the funnel opening.
