High Levels of Alkaline Phosphatase
Alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme that helps in metabolism. It is found in the bones, the liver, the kidneys and the placenta.-
Phosphoric acid
-
Phosphoric acid is kind of an oxymoron because it is a tri-basic acid, which is like saying it is both alkaline and acidic, but it does create a homeostasis of the body. It is used in making metal rustproof by eliminating oxidation. It is also used in flavoring soft drinks.
Phosphate &Phosphatase
-
Phosphate is a salt of phosphoric acid. Phosphatase is an enzyme that breaks down and synthesizes the salt of phosphoric acid with water. It is also used to transfer phosphoric acid to other compounds.
Alkaline phosphatase
-
Alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme that works best in an alkaline environment in a normal range of 20 to 140 IU/L (International units over liters). This enzyme helps prevent the spread of bacterial infections, such as Escherichia coli (E. coli), by starving the bacteria. No disease can exist in an alkaline environment.
High levels
-
Alkaline phosphatase is sometimes naturally elevated, but no one knows why. When studying blood tests, high levels can be detected in pregnant women, unborn children and those fighting illnesses, infections or various conditions, like cancer.
Leukocytes
-
Leukocytes alkaline phosphatase are white blood cell enzymes that are elevated when trying to fight off disease.
