Epoxy Resin: Common Products & Allergy Information

Epoxy resins are a fairly commonly used product, at least partially because they help to hold items together. They are basically great building blocks. However, if you are allergic --- or just curious --- knowing the exact items which contain epoxy resigns is very important for you and potentially for your health.

Household Items

• A few different household items contain epoxy resin. Among arts and crafts products, a lot of glues contain epoxy resin. People who have paints for either a car or a boat may also find that these products contain epoxy resin. Always read a list of ingredients if you want to know.

Industry

• Epoxy resin is used more for commercial purposes and in industry than in household products. It is often found in steel pipes, flooring, aircrafts, concrete bonding, car production and the surfacing of roads and bridges. The electrical industry has many uses for epoxy resin and utilizes this material in condensers, capacitors and enclosing transformers.

PVC

• A number of items made from or containing PVC have epoxy resin in them. Some examples of such items include handbags, plastic necklaces, stuffed animals, eyeglass frames and certain types of gloves.
