People did not carry bags of lavender specifically to prevent the Black Death. There were various misconceptions about the cause and spread of the disease during that time. Lavender, known for its soothing and aromatic properties, was commonly used for different medicinal purposes, but there is no evidence suggesting it was used as a preventative measure against the Black Death.
