Autovent 3000 Protocol: Mobile Ventilation Guidelines
Patients can require constant ventilation when being transported to a hospital facility. Lack of oxygen can easily turn a simple health problem into a fatal outcome. An Autovent 3000 offers mobile ventilation, but requires specific rules for application.-
Identification
-
The Autovent 3000 is a small ventilation control device, offering adjustable parameters such as air volume and inspiration time duration. The device attaches to an intubated or non-intubated patient for consistent air flow.
Protocol
-
Attach the Autovent 3000 to a 50 psi (pounds per square inch) ventilator air source. Adjust the controls for reflecting the person's size, such as child or adult, and the rate of air flow. Attach the control device to ventilator tubing. Connect the tubing to the patient's face mask or intubated line.
Considerations
-
Determine the air flow volume to the patient by determining his weight in kilograms. Multiply 10 cc (cubic centimeters) by the patient's kilogram weight. The resulting answer reflects the total air volume the patient's body requires for proper ventilation.
