How to Recycle Sawdust as a Floor Cleaner

Linoleum and concrete floors are easy to mop. However, high-traffic areas may not have time to dry before the flow of animals and people resumes. Recycling sawdust as a floor cleaner can clean a spill without the danger of someone slipping.

  Bag up the sawdust. Sweep it into a large pile and scoop or shovel it into a trash bag. If you need a large amount of sawdust for a business or school, contact wood working shops, classes and wood carvers. Most will give you the sawdust for free.

  Clean up a spill or vomit from the floor. Sprinkle the sawdust over the area until the entire spill is covered in 1 inch of sawdust. Allow the sawdust to absorb the liquid for 10 to 15 minutes.

  Cover the floor in a light coat of sawdust to remove dirt and dust from the floor.

  Sweep the floor in long smooth motions. All the liquid soaks into the sawdust while also lifting dust off the floor.

  Sweep the used sawdust into a dustpan and dispose of it in a trash can.
