Brita Filter Recycling: A Comprehensive Guide

Brita manufactures filters for Brita pitchers and dispensers, faucets and refrigerators. While most municipal, curbside and private recycling programs don’t accept Brita filters, Brita has partnered with Preserve, a company that produces recycled plastic consumer products. Preserve will recycle all materials including the outer polypropylene (PP) #5 plastic pitcher cartridge casings and inner activated carbon and ion exchange resin from Brita pitcher filters through its Gimme 5 recycling program. Recycling the pitcher filters isn’t difficult and only requires that you use a Preserve recycling bin or mail the filters directly to Preserve.
