Understanding and Using Oxygen Masks: A Comprehensive Guide
Oxygen masks are lightweight devices that supply oxygen to the lungs of a person in need. They are commonly used for medical and health care procedures, emergencies and potentially harmful situations, as well as certain fields of expertise such as the military, aviation and high altitude climbing. Designed to be accessible for all types of people and professionals, oxygen masks provide oxygen through a tube that is connected a supply tank. There are two basic types of oxygen masks: oral nasal masks that goes over the nose and mouth only, and full-face masks that covers the entire face.
Instructions
Wearing an Oxygen Mask
Select the valve of the prescribed oxygen concentration and attach it to the mask.
Connect one end of the oxygen tubing to the valve spigot on the mask and the other end to the oxygen flow meter on the supply tank.
Set the flow meter to the flow indicated on the valve.
Place the mask over the nose and mouth and tighten the elastic for a secure and comfortable fit.
Breathe naturally.
